In Central California, entire communities are living with the health and economic toll of air pollution, climate stress, and environmental injustice. The San Joaquin Valley consistently ranks among the most polluted regions in the United States, with asthma rates among the highest in the country. Children miss school. Parents miss work. Families suffer—simply because of where they live.

This project helps Central Valley families create healthier, safer homes by replacing natural gas appliances with clean, electric alternatives, at no cost to participants. By eliminating gas from the home, indoor air pollution that can worsen asthma, respiratory illness, and other health conditions is reduced, while also helping to alleviate energy costs and improving comfort. 

In addition to home upgrades, this project delivers job training and paid work experience, preparing Kern County residents for careers in clean energy, weatherization, and home retrofits. 

This work is community-driven and publicly funded by California Jobs First and the Kern Coalition to make sure clean energy investments actually reach the neighborhoods that have been overburdened by pollution for too long.
